Jack Wimmershoff is a first-year medical student at Cooper Medical School of Rowan University (CMSRU) in Camden, NJ. He is a lifelong resident of Morris County, New Jersey, and attended Marist College in Poughkeepsie, NY, where he graduated in May 2022 with a degree in Biomedical Sciences and Spanish Language Studies. Jack’s interest in medicine grew from an initial interest in science, which he attributes largely to his first biology class in sixth grade. Beginning in high school, he spent his summers working as a camp counselor, a job that showed him how rewarding it was to be able to make a positive impact on the lives of others. During this time, the field of medicine emerged as the perfect way to apply a passion for science to the goal of positively impacting other people. Prior to attending medical school, Jack worked for one year as a medical assistant at a local primary care practice to gain experience working directly with patients and to learn more about working in the medical field. He is still undecided as to which area of medicine he hopes to pursue as a career, but his current interests include internal medicine, psychiatry, and hematology/oncology.
