Dr. Katy Hanson is a New Hampshire native. She knew she wanted to be a doctor from a young age, and moved to New Orleans to attend Tulane University to complete her premedical studies. In New Orleans she developed a love of vibrant, lively art, and began to incorporate the bright colors of the city into her notes. She then moved to Maine to attend medical school at the University of New England School of Osteopathic Medicine where she further developed a passion for visual learning and mixing art with education. She then completed a double residency in Emergency Medicine and Internal Medicine as well as a fellowship in Critical Care Medicine at Jefferson Northeast in Philadelphia, where she wrote, illustrated, and self published a book of her work titled Hanson’s Anatomy. She has since moved home to New Hampshire where she currently practices as a triple board certified attending physician, working both in the ICU and the Emergency Department. She is currently enjoying post-training life with her husband, daughter, and two dogs. Although she has decided to retire from Hanson’s Anatomy for now, she is leaving this website up as inspiration for the next generation of medical professionals to create, draw, sketch, paint, or doodle their way toward their medical degree and achieving their dreams.
