Dr. Downer is the former Senior Vice President of Accounting and Finance at D&S Medical Consulting firm and has served as an adjunct professor of accounting, finance, and business for over eight years. Dr. Downer has mentored both undergraduate and graduate learners and possesses over 25 years of experience in accounting, finance, and auditing, working with numerous large and small corporations.
She holds a Doctorate of Business Administration (DBA) with a focus in Accounting from South University, a Master’s in Accounting and Finance Management from Keller Graduate School of Management, and earned a BA in Accounting and Technical Management from DeVry University with honors. She is a member of Phi Beta Lambda Business Fraternity (PBL), dedicated to inspiring and developing the next generation of leaders by preparing members for careers in business and related fields.
Dr. Downer is also a member of the National Honor Society (NHS) and Sigma Beta Delta, an Honor Society for students in the business or management field of study. She is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE). As an international publisher, she has authored a book chapter on leadership. With her passion for accounting and finance, she believes they are not just careers but the backbone of any business unit.
Dr. Downer acknowledges the challenges faced by business owners and students. Alongside her colleagues, she established Doc Downer Business Solutions & Academic Services, LLC to effectively serve entrepreneurs, business owners, students, and individuals at affordable prices, aiding them in overcoming their challenges.
